  • The manager and her staff have high expectations and are ambitious for the children in their care. They regularly evaluate the quality of the nursery and create clear targets to help it to improve further.
  • Children’s progress is closely tracked and any gaps in learning are quickly identified. Appropriate strategies are put into place to provide extra support and to ensure all children make the best possible progress.
  • Staff provide strong support to children who speak English as an additional language. They work closely with parents to identify children’s needs and promote their early communication skills well. For example, they engage children in meaningful conversations, play alongside them and use new words to build their vocabulary.
  • The nursery has an effective settling-in process. Children settle quickly into the nursery and are closely monitored by staff who are highly responsive to their individual needs.
  • Children enjoy coming to the nursery. They have formed strong bonds with staff, with whom they are keen to share experiences. Children are happy and content. Their emotional well-being is well supported.
  • All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, develop the key skills they will need for future learning and school. For example, older children are confident communicators and are keen to share their own experiences.
  • Staff have a good partnership with parents. Information is shared closely with parents about their children’s daily activities and is included in supporting their learning.
