Age Groups

Toddlers: 2-3 Years

Our Toddler Room offers and inquisitive environment that children can explore and learn through play.

At this age, children start to build a friendship with their peers and are encouraged to achieve their learning goal within their play. We do encourage to join in all activities during play such as imaginative, messy creative play, story session, sand and water play, construction play, singing, and dancing. Painting, drawing and creative play are always very popular within Cheeky Monkey’s Day Nursery.

We have a lovely outdoor area where children are encouraged to continue their exploration and learning outdoors and we do regularly take children for walks within the local area and visits to the local library.

Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery will assist with potty training and follow routines that you have in place to avoid children becoming confused with routines.

After Lunch, children can is required to have a nap or rest time to ensure that they full of energy to continue their afternoon full fun, play and laughter.

Our Children are developing independence skills and are supported and encouraged to grow in independence.  This is developed by involving children in selecting a variety of fresh / dried fruits, salads and a drink at their snack time. We encourage children to self-serve their food and enjoy conversing with peers and practitioners about their day and special times.

All of our Children are given opportunities to explore their environment, discovering the world around them.  All children are individuals and are given the opportunities that provide them with the chances to be healthy.

Preschool: 3-5 Years

During this age, Cheeky Monkey’s Day Nursery creates more structure within the children’s environment. We do understand that the children are still young therefore continue to use play as the child’s learning style.

We provide a wide range of stimulating toys and resources which are accessible to the children such as small and large construction toys and puzzles to develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination. We continue our imaginative play, dressing up and messy play opportunities and also introduce the use of a computer in their play.

At this stage, your child will be entering the last chapter of their time before they head off to school. During this chapter of the children learning, Cheeky Monkey’s Day Nursery will ensure that children are fully equipped to make a smooth transition to school by forming links with the local schools.

The staff encourage the children to talk about what interests them and our team uses this information to plan activities. We encourage a mixture of child-led and adult-led activities which are a result of spontaneous reactions between adults and the children. The children happily flourish when they create their own fun.

All children who leave Cheeky Monkey’s Day Nursery with a completed learning journal which highlights their abilities, achievements and next steps. This will form the basis of the child’s starting point whilst in school, but will also serve as a fantastic memory book for them to keep.
